Pints at the Playwright: Let's Talk a Little Treason

This Sunday 5/21 from 5pm to 7pm I predict an overflowing crowd at the Playwright in New Haven. The free event features blogsphere royalty and authors of the above on their coast-to-coast book tour of this bestseller. Ned Lamont, potential Lieberman spoiler will be there gladhanding as well. It's going to be a great night with plenty action items for what each and every one of us who can do to finally drive the facists out. No self respecting card carrying Connecticut liberal, will want to miss it. Plus there will be beer. Yes you have to pay for it but still, what's better than sitting around with a fine group of likeminded progressives and talking a little treason.

Hijacked!

Looks like CrooksandLiars.com has been hijacked. It'll probably turn out to be some pimply kid in keyboarding class or a neocon wannabe.

Bonehead Gets it Right for Once

Bill O'Reilly on his show last night saying,

"The newspaper [the New York Times] and many far-left thinkers believe the white power structure that controls America is bad, so a drastic change is needed. According to the lefty zealots, the white Christians who hold power must be swept out by a new multicultural tide, a rainbow coalition, if you will.

Ummmm....yup.

I'm Listening To...

Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and it sends me right back to my childhood. I can smell the meat cooking in the broiler. Yes, in the soundtrack of my life, HA & the TB is what the family fondly calls “Steak Music”. My Mom and Dad had half a dozen HA albums and seemed compelled to play them whenever London Broil, Roast Beef, or Sirloin was on the menu (which was usually a Saturday or Sunday night). Even as a kid I loved the music; the six of us would pretend to be bullfighters and gore each other all over the living room. I distinctly remember the famous “Whipped Cream” album cover and writing “Woo Woo” in pencil near the bride’s frothily covered boobie. As I got older Herb and the boys faded into the background but came back with a vengeance in the 90s with my lounge music fixation (which continues to this day I might add). At one particularly memorable Christmas party, “Whipped Cream and Other Delights” served as the background to one extremely drunken but extremely funny home version of “The Dating Game”. I also seem to recall my best friend using her jacket as a cape in accompaniment of “The Lonely Bull” during the cocktail hour at my brother’s wedding. Hmm. I think there are picture of that somewhere.

It's not you I'm mad at, it's the dirt

What better way to spend Mothers Day than in a swanky movie theatre on an overcast day sipping mimosas and watching the worst movie of all time? Truly. It was a gas. Kevin and I took his mom to see "Mommie Dearest" and it was a laugh riot, although I know it wasn't intentionally filmed as such. Pardon the pun, but you just can't take your eyes off of Faye Dunaway's eyebrows. That is when you're not spitting mimosas out your nose because of her acting. How did they keep a straight face while filming? Truly a camp classic that deserves its place as the mother of all Mother's Day movies.
