Silence Please

I had to keep the TV off yesterday after I flipped channels in the hotel room in upstate New York and saw that just about every station was airing some sort of 9/11 rememberance show.

I think the majority of people in the tri-state area would agree with me when I say we don't need to remember...we never forget. Ever. It is with us every day. Just about every community in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut lost someone. As the months after the initial attack passed, folks in other parts of the country began to move on with their lives. We did not. The cluster-fuck in the Middle East is a constant reminder of that day. The park benches with the names of victims. The town-by-town memorials. The baseball fields, the street signs, the schools named for victims. Its still and open wound. People here understand better than anyone what the folks in New Orleans and Mississippi feel like when some callus fuck says, "Katrina is over. Get on with your lives." Its just not that easy.

So the TV will remain off. I don't need to see the pictures again. In some ways it hurts more now than it did then because of everything that came in its wake and how those poor people have been used in death to feed world war.
